California Day 3 - 7/16/08

Day 3 in California and we were headed Sea World. Our first stop was the Sesame Street Bay of Play. It was awesome! I went on all of the rides: Elmo's Flying Fish, Oscar's Electric Eel and Abby's Spinning Starfish.

I also had fun climbing the cargo net with Daddy, playing in the bounce zone and watching my Sesame Street friends sing and dance on the big boat. The Bay of Play was really great, but I was anxious to see my aquatic friends, especially the dolphins. Aunt Mary, Daddy, Mommy and I sat in the first row "splash zone" for the dolphin show. Gi Gi & Ga Ga decided to stay dry and sit higher up, which was smart. Those dolphins sure like to jump and splash! We got wet!

After a lunch break, we went to see the sharks. The sharks live in a really cool cave. We walked down, down, down and soon we were in an underwater tunnel and the sharks were swimming all around us. It was pretty dark and hard for Daddy to take pictures of the sharks, but here is a picture of me looking up at them. I liked the sharks so much we went through a second time (I would have stayed all day!) and made a souvenier shark penny. Gi Gi and Ga Ga also bought me a stuffed shark to cuddle with and remind me of our fun day.

When you're two and it's hot, you don't last all day. We didn't make it to see Shamu on this trip, but that just gives us a reason to go back. Here I am watching the sea lions and harbor seals with Aunt Mary and Daddy.

After a long, cool nap at the hotel, we went to have dinner with Mommy's friend Lisa and her husband Brian. I was not very interested in eating dinner, but I loved the park by their house. It has great sand and so many fun things to climb on. Also, it is close to the Naval and Marine bases so there were lots of planes and copters flying over. They are having a baby in December and I know he or she is going to have a lot of fun at the park!

When we got back to the hotel, I was still going strong and Gi Gi and Ga Ga were headed to the pool so Mommy and I went along. It was very fun swimming at night and doing lots of splashing!

California Day 2 - 7/15/08

Remember that jet lag I mentioned in my last post? Well, it made for quite an early morning on our second day in California. I tried to sleep in, but my Michigan body kept telling me it was 8:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. PST) and it was time to go. Mommy and I explored the hotel for an hour or so, then we got Daddy up for an early morning swim. The pool was outside , but heated so it was a lot of fun. I really started to enjoy swimming and splashing !

Here I am splashing daddy with some of my pool friends. After our swim and some breakfast at Jamba Juice with GiGi and GaGa, Mommy, Daddy and I went for an excursion. We drove about an hour north of San Diego to Cypress, where Subaru R&D has its California office.

We met Miss Heidi who gave me some delicious Japanese cookies and took us on a tour. The office is pretty similar to the one at home.

Here I am showing Daddy how to run a meeting in the conference room. The white board and markers were really cool!

After visiting SRD - CA, Daddy took us to lunch at one of his favorite restaurants, Curry House. After lunch, we took the scenic route, Pacific Coast Highway, back south. We got out in Huntington Beach to stretch our legs and test out the surf.

I napped in the car both ways on our adventure so I got pretty well adjusted to California time. In the evening we went for pizza with the gang in The Gaslamp District of SD and for dessert we went to Aunt Mary & Uncle James' favorite gelato store.

California Day 1- 7/14/08

We left for our big vacation to California on Monday, July 14. We took an airplane from Detroit to San Diego. Since I 'm a big 2-year old now, I had my own seat on the plane, which was great for everyone! I was right by the window so I could see the scenery, as well as the airplane wing.

After landing in San Diego and taking care of some errands for Aunt Mary, GaGa Jimmer and Mommy and naps for GiGi Sal, Daddy and myself, we went to Old Town San Diego for dinner. Cheers!

After dinner, we walked around Old Town. The settlers who came to California didn't come in an airplane like me, they came in a covered wagon. Here are me and Daddy checking out how much cargo space they had.

Old Town was very cool, but jet lag was setting in so we kept our evening out short. Here is another view of Old Town.

Happy Wedding Day

Hi everyone! I am back from our trip to California. I know you want to see pictures and hear all about the fun things we did, but Mommy and Daddy are still trying to unpack and catch up. Here are a few pictures to tide you over until they can help me blog more.

Up North

We took two trips up north recently. Last month, we borrowed the big van from Daddy's work to drive up to Traverse City. We needed a lot of cargo space to bring back couches from Grandma Gail and Grandpa Gary's house. Here I am, ready to take my turn driving the big rig.

After we pulled into TC and loaded up the couches, there was plenty of play time. Here Ally and I are being silly cousins with Uncle Nate and Daddy.

Mommy, Uncle Deano, Owen

Speaking of a big family meal, we sure had one over 4th of July weekend in Charlevoix. Here we are on Fajita Night.

We love to be in Charlevoix because we can walk to a lot of fun places. Here are Mommy and I coming back from the park and beach.

We did drive out of town a bit to visit Friske Orchards. Here is a picture of Daddy, Beatrice and me measuring how tall we are.

Aunt Rachel, Beatrice, Uncle Jason

We had fun going for boat rides, playing at the beach, walking "on the town", but I think the most fun I had was playing with the hose. Here I am getting my cousin Jack all wet!

I love to be up north!

Emmy Cago

Last month we took the train in to Chicago (or Cago as I like to call it) to meet up with all of the TC Plums - Grandma Gail, Grandpa Gary, Aunt Julie, Uncle Nate and Ally. It was great! Here are some pictures from our adventure.

I love trains, so I was pretty excited that we were taking the choo-choo to get to Chicago. Here I am looking for the train with Daddy and reading my train book with Mommy.

Here I am on my first morning in Chicago, checking out the view from Aunt Mary and Uncle James' apartment. They live right on Lake Shore Avenue!

Our first morning, we took the bus to Shedd Aquarium. The bus was so big, it had a pivot section in the middle, which was where we were sitting. Everytime we turned, we moved. As you can see, Ally Plum is being a kid on the bus playing peek-a-boo!

After our aqarium adventure, we took a trolley back to The Miracle Mile. Here is a family picture in a very special spot - the park in front of the historic Water Tower. This is where Daddy asked Mommy to marry him.
That evening, we went to Milleneum Park, where Ally and I had some Girls Gone Wild in Chicago time in the splash fountain. It was so cool.

Here is a picture of me and Daddy on the lake front trail. We were on our way back from the beach and Lincoln Park Zoo.

Here we are on the train back to Michigan. Our trip to Chicago was the best! I can hardly wait to do it again. If you want to see more pictures from our trip, click here:
